+1 googlecode -1 sourceforge

projects August 3rd, 2008

So I had released one of my projects under the GPL license and since I was a longtime browser of sourceforge I had decided to use them. Well low and behold they allowed a hostile takeover of the project and then further allowed them to delete all traces of it! All the svn code checkins, source, bug lists, email lists, documentation…. gone poof no sign of them.

Now doesn’t that kind of go against the spirit of OPEN SOURCE!! (Not to mention the GPL License Terms for heavens sake!!!!).

So I moved my project to googlecode.com and couldn’t be happier, googlecode is so much easier to use and much faster. And you don’t have to go through the insane submission and approval process that sourceforge makes you do.

I will never again use SourceForge for any projects!

‘08 Spring Detailing Prep

projects April 23rd, 2008

It’s that time of year again, the evil snow mounds have melted, the sun is shining, and it’s time to give the car some TLC!!

Lots of new products to use this year, was a lot of fun and a lot of hard long hours. Among the new toys was a wet dry vac, a flex 3401 polisher, a few new Zaino products ZPC, ZAIO, ZCS.

Last weekend I did a full interior details including carpets, leather cleaning and conditioning, dash, etc… I’m glad I didn’t try to squeeze the interior detail in together with the marathon 4 day exterior detail session. My batteries were just about spent come the end of the fourth day, lol.

The last car detailing of the season

projects October 23rd, 2007

So how much time is too much time spent when it comes to cleaning your car? For me there doesn’t seem to be a limit, lol Last weekend I cleaned a little sat night, then spent all day sunday, and I mean ALL day sunday cleaning my car.

Am I obsessed with a clean car? Might be a fine line, I really enjoy the way a clean car looks and smells, but this was the first time I’ve ever really cleaned the interior of this car in over a year. I think a habit I inherited from my mother is once I start cleaning, I keep cleaning until the job is completely done, no half ass jobs.

Searching for a domain name

projects August 29th, 2007

It’s just amazing when you start searching for a domain name to use and it takes days upon days to find an available one that doesn’t completely suck. I have done so many lookups in the last week looking for something that was short enough, easy to spell, kinda fun and had a little background to it.

So how in the world did rocksahead.com come to be? One of the great 80’s flicks The Princess Bride provided the inspiration. Please please tell me that you have seen this great movie. One of the funniest scenes is where Andre the Giant (Fezzik) is mocking Vizzini rhyming a conversation away. “Anybody want a peanut?” lol

Thanks for stopping by, more to come!
