Having fun with the iPhone
iphone August 29th, 2007
How much fun have you been having with your iPhone? Don’t have one? Sorry, I know it’s expensive but what a great device it is. True it isn’t for everybody, doesn’t do everything, and won’t solve the world’s problems… With a little patience and persistence you can open up the flood gates to having fun, check it out…
A few of the goodies that I’ve done…
- Changed most of the icons of the default Apps
- Changed the logo (blanked out in screenshot), battery charging (when docked), dock background, and probably a bunch of png’s I can’t remember, lol
- Added GUI Apps - Terminal, NES emulator, Voice Recorder, SendSong
- Added CLI Apps - ssh (so I can open Terminal and ssh out of the iphone!), a bunch of standard linux binaries, sendFileByMail (to email any file on the iphone as an attachment), screenshot, and the list goes on. Natetrue’s site contains most of these goodies, definitely worth a look!
There’s one App that everyone is anxious for, the all powerful AIM/iChat. ApolloIM is a promising start if Apple doesn’t come out with their own soon enough.
If you are interested in learning how to do all this I recommend visiting ModMyIphone.com and hacktheiphone.net they have lots of resources available to get you going. It’s a little too complicated to just ‘jot’ down here
Happy modding!
